Kingston Community Foundation completes purchase of the Old Woolstore Property
The Kingston Community Foundation has finalised the settlement for the purchase of the Old Woolstore property at 11 Hanson Street, Kingston, completing a busy round of fund raising since the Foundation was launched on the 11th April this year.
Settlement was completed with the help of some donors who also provided interest free advances so that leasing of the property could be organised. These loans will be repaid as funds become available.
Of course, being a charitable community Foundation, fund raising never stops as the Kingston Community Foundation continues to grow and develop.
The Kingston Community Foundation is breaking new ground as it is the first fully tax-deductible charitable body to be established in Kingston.
The Old Woolstore is the first acquisition of the Kingston Community Foundation, so it is in essence the cornerstone of the Kingston Community Foundation, owned by the community.
As future donor funds are received an investment strategy will be developed as all funding by way of donations is added to the Capital base. Only the income from the property and investments will be distributed to the three beneficiaries and so preserving the capital base in perpetuity.
The beneficiaries are:
The Kingston Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Kingston Community School Building Fund
*Kingston SE Branch of the National Trust of SA.
The aim is to assist these community organisations with funding from the Kingston Community Foundation net income, for local projects that need to be funded locally.
The main income of the Kingston Community Foundation will be rental income from the lease of the Old Woolstore which is being managed by Colliers Real Estate and Complete Commercial based in Mount Gambier. The Kingston Community Foundation will not operate the business and will simply act as the landlord and receive the rental income.
Further information is available on the Foundation website: kingstoncommunityfoundation.au.
