There was movement in the village for word had got around,

The Kingston Community Foundation Woolstore funding has been found

Apologies to Banjo Paterson.

The Directors of the Kingston Community Foundation are making progress towards finalising the acquisition of the Old Wool Store in Holland Street, Kingston SE. Fundraising started on the 11th of April this year when the Kingston Community Foundation was officially launched at a well attended launch –

  • Settlement for the property purchase is imminent with settlement funds being organised.

  • Arrangements with real estate companies Colliers based in Adelaide, and Complete Commercial based in Mount Gambier, to lease the property to a restaurant group for a long-term lease. The listing is being advertised nationally and the Foundation is particularly excited that the Old Woolstore will again be open for business sometime in the new year. Certainly, the sentiment being expressed in the community is that everyone is keen to see the restaurant back in business again. It has been missed.

  • The Kingston Community Foundation will not operate the restaurant business but will simply act as the landlord with the net rental income being available to the beneficiaries via an annual distribution.
